Dans le cadre du RTRA «Nanosciences aux limites de la nanoélectronique», la Fondation Nanosciences a soutenu un projet commun d’équipement de MEB- FIB déposé en 2008 par les plateformes PFNC (Plateforme de Nanocaractérisation), PTA (Plateforme de Technologie Amont) et CMTC (Consortium des Moyens Technologiques Communs).
Le MEB-FIB, initialement utilisé dans l’industrie des semi-conducteurs, est en train de devenir un outil incontournable pour la recherche en nanosciences. Il s’agit d’un microscope électronique à balayage haute résolution (MEB FEG : Field Emission Gun) couplé à un faisceau d’ions focalisé (FIB : Focused Ion Beam). Il permet la fabrication, la manipulation, l’imagerie par reconstruction 3D et la caractérisation d’objets préparés à l’échelle nanométrique.
L'inauguration du MEB-FIB aura lieu dans la matinée. Les caractéristiques, les potentialités de cet équipement, ainsi que quelques premiers résultats obtenus depuis son installation vous seront présentés par des utilisateurs des plateformes du RTRA. Ensuite, prendront la parole l'Ingénieur Applications de la société Carl ZEISS, puis le responsable de la formation au même modèle de MEB-FIB à l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne.
L'aprés-midi sera consacrée à la tenue d'un atelier dédié à l'utilisation des microscopes MEB-FIB.
Tous les chercheurs du RTRA ayant déjà travaillé avec ce FIB ou d'autres FIB (à Nanofab, sur la PFNC ou ailleurs ...) sont invités à venir présenter leurs résultats, leurs témoignages quant aux apports de cet outil, leurs projets.
Ainsi animé par une succession de courtes présentations et de discussions,
l'objectif de cet atelier est d'apporter aux participants une vision
précise et illustrée des situations au cours desquelles cet outil peut
apporter de réels bénéfices par rapport aux autres méthodes.

The Foundation Nanosciences has been created to support the Research focused on "Nanosciences at the frontiers of nanoelectronics” which is performed within our associated network of laboratories : the so-called 'RTRA' (Réseau Thématique de Recherche Avancée).
This network includes 32 laboratories and about 1000 scientists across the various research institutions based in Grenoble.
The Foundation's main goals are to foster a world-class Nanosciences Research within our laboratories by encouraging collaborative and multidisciplinary projects and extending the international reputation of Grenoble as a global leader in the nanosciences field.
